Windows 24H2 Issues on VAST.Rehab

Windows 10 and Windows 11 version 24H2 have rolled out important security and performance enhancements. However, a recent cumulative update inadvertently removed several critical libraries used by our VAST.Rehab suite. This removal can lead to application instability, service failures, and degraded performance across treatment servers. In this article, we explain the root cause of the problem and provide a step-by-step guide for restoring full functionality on your Local Server Manager.

Understanding the Cause

During the installation of Windows 24H2, some shared runtime libraries (DLLs) essential for the VAST.Rehab application were unregistered or removed. These libraries are key components leveraged by our background services and data-processing modules. Without them, the Local Server Manager cannot correctly load or execute the rehabilitation services, resulting in startup errors and interrupted client sessions.

Key symptoms include:
  1. Service startup failures – The VAST.Rehab Server Manager logs errors indicating missing DLLs or unable to locate modules.
  2. Software unable to connect with local server

Solution Overview

  1. Download the latest Local Server Manager from Microsoft Store.
  2. Click the Remove services button at the bottom of the window.

  3. When prompted with "Are you sure you want to remove services?", click "Yes". The manager will delete all existing VAST.Rehab services and unregister old dependencies. Wait for confirmation that the operation completed successfully.

  4. At the end click "Update or install updater service".

  5. Restart your computer to load the updated service definitions and libraries.
  6. After reboot, launch the Therapist Panel and Patient Panel. Both should now connect correctly and operate without errors.

Conclusion

By updating Local Server Manager, removing outdated services, reinstalling them with correct libraries, and restarting your workstation, you can fully restore VAST.Rehab functionality on Windows 24H2. We apologize for any downtime and appreciate your patience.
