How to connect to your therapist during a remote session (Patient Panel)

Introduction

VAST.Rehab lets your therapist supervise your training session from a distance. When a remote session has been agreed, you connect from your Patient Panel - your therapist will then see your camera, your screen, and live data from the exercises, and you will be able to talk over two-way audio.

This article explains what to do on the patient side. The steps are the same whether you use Windows, Meta Quest headset or Android.

Before you start

  • You need the login and password that your therapist provided (usually delivered as a PDF document).
  • Your device must have a working camera, microphone, and speakers (or a headset).
  • The time of the remote session must be agreed with your therapist in advance - your therapist can only connect after you confirm you are ready.

Step 1 - Log in to the Patient Panel

  1. Launch the Patient Panel.
  2. Enter the login and password provided by your therapist.
  3. You will see the Start screen (Welcome on board) with tiles for Start workout, Online meeting, Report, Messages, and Help.

Step 2 - Open the Online meeting

  1. On the Start screen, click the Online meeting tile.
  2. The Online meeting screen opens with the heading Start a scheduled meeting with your therapist.
  3. Check the three dropdowns and make sure the correct devices are selected:
    • Camera - the webcam you want to use
    • Microphone
    • Speakers (or headphones)
  4. The live preview below the dropdowns shows what your camera is currently capturing - a quick way to confirm that the video is working.

Step 3 - Confirm you are ready

When you are seated, positioned correctly, and your camera and microphone are working:

  1. Click the I'm ready button in the bottom-right corner.
  2. This tells your therapist that you are ready to be connected.

Until you click I'm ready, your therapist cannot initiate the call on their side.

Step 4 - During the call

Once your therapist starts the call, a meeting window will open on your device. Your therapist will be able to:

  • Talk to you over live audio
  • See your camera feed
  • See your Patient Panel screen
  • Follow live data from the training session

You can talk back at any time using your microphone - the audio is two-way.

The therapist will usually greet you, verify that everything is working, and then start the training session remotely. The exercises will launch on your device as usual, and you perform them the same way you would during an in-person session - the only difference is that your therapist is watching and talking to you through the meeting window on the side.

Step 5 - Ending the call

At the end of the session, your therapist will end the call. You will be returned to the main menu of the Patient Panel.

If you need to end the call yourself, use the red handset icon in the meeting window.

If you are not connecting with a therapist

If a workout has been scheduled for you to do on your own (without a live call), you do not need to open the Online meeting at all - simply click Start workout on the Start screen and follow the instructions. Your therapist will review the results after you finish.
